Brazil in August

January

May

Is August a good time to visit Brazil? Yes, August it is an excellent time to travel to Brazil and experience its wildlife, beaches and the rainforest.

In August head to Lencois Maranhenses on the Route of Emotions. It is the best time of the year to visit the park. Jericoacoara can have strong winds, great time for kitesurfing.

August is pleasant for Rio de Janeiro. Temperatures are between 19-25°C. Can get chilly at night (15C). Perfect time for Costa Verde, Paraty and Buzios.

August is great for Bahia, especially for the southern bahian beaches. It is the month when you can still see whales. Also great time to see the colonial towns of Minas Gerais.

August is best for wildlife spotting in the Amazon. It can be quite hot (33C). The jungle is denser than in the Pantanal Wetlands, so seeing the animals can be harder here.

It is also the dry season in the Pantanal. August is great for wildlife spotting, especially the jaguar.  Giant water lilies gently ripple on the surface of the wetlands.

At the Iguazu Falls the temperature are more comfortable and the risk of rain is smaller. Although the falls are not at their peak, they remain impressive and the rocks peeking through the water can make the falls very spectacular.

The state of Pernambuco and Fernando de Noronha might have some light rain in August.

August is also a very good month to visit the canyons of Aparados da Serra because of good visibility, although the temperatures are quite low since it is winter in the south of Brazil. Beaches of Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul are best to avoid because of cold.
