Brazil with Toddlers

Did you always want to visit Brazil, but wonder if it is a good place to travel with toddlers? The Brazil with Toddlers Tour is a 10-day itinerary, exceptionally designed for parents travelings with small children. In the states of Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo there are many suitable places to spend a relaxing beach holiday with babies and small children. In case you would like to visit a bit, we have included short sightseeing escapes to wonderful places, while the babies can stay with a professional nanny at the hotel. The good thing about Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo is that these cities are accessible directly on several international connections. Spend a quality time on beautiful beaches with azure waters while we make sure all your needs as travelling parents are taken care of. The program includes accommodation at small boutique hotels, you can choose hotels with a spa and all the needed amenities and services. Board options and an all-inclusive board can be arranged. The trip can be done the other way around or as a loop, arriving and departing from the same airport (GRU or GIG).

International flights are not included in the package price. We give you the freedom to book the flights yourself, use miles and choose your preferred airline, and if you are stuck we can help you find the right connections. Return flights to Brazil start from £800 per person, depending on the connections and time of the year. Fly to Rio de Janeiro (GIG).

For families and groups (starting with 5 pax), we can book domestic flights in Brazil, during the high season, and if the trip is part of a more complex itinerary. This is to ensure a seamless travel and no complications.

This is a sample itinerary and prices are correct at the time of writing. We can tailor it to suit your plans by changing the length of the trip or the order of activities. More days can be added. Other hotels can be chosen, according to your liking. Best time to visit: year round. It is best to avoid January to February because of rain and the weekends when the beaches are very crowded.

Day 1 - Arrival in Rio de Janeiro

Today you will arrive in Rio. Surrounded by stunning mountains, white sand beaches and tropical rainforest, Rio offers some of the most spectacular scenery in the world. Wherever you go, you’ll enjoy a wonderful view – it has been blessed with an unrivalled landscape. Your driver will greet you at the airport and take you to the hotel. We’ve not planned anything for this afternoon to allow you to recover from your flight. Explore the city under your own steam and spend the afternoon relaxing on the beach in Copacabana, Ipanema or Leblon. A good idea is to head out to Pedra do Arpoador to watch the sunset. Overnight at Copacabana Palace.

Day 2 - Corcovado

This morning start with a delicious Brazilian breakfast, try some exotic fruit and head out to discover the beautiful city. You will be picked up at your hotel after breakfast. We planned a day full of excitement and spectacular viewpoints for you: visit the iconic Statue of Christ the Redeemer on Corcovado Mountains. From the top there are breathtaking views.  A rack railway will take you up to the foot of the statue, leaving from Cosme Velho district over Tijuca Forest. Located around the base of Corcovado, the dense forest has many springs and waterfalls. After descending, stop  at Maracanã and at Sambódromo. Overnight at Copacabana Palace.

Day 3 - Sugar Loaf

Today visit Rio’s amazing Botanical Garden with a wide variety of exotic plants and the picturesque neighbourhoods of Lapa and Santa Teresa with the famous Selaron Stairs. This area is the heart of art and coffee shops in Rio with a vibrant atmosphere. After lunch continue through the old Urca neighborhood towards the Sugarloaf. Here board a cable-car and climb up Morro da Urca. From here, the cable-car travels high above the rugged green terrain to the Sugarloaf’s summit. Enjoy wonderful panoramic views over Rio de Janeiro from the top, sunsets being particularly spectacular. You can also take a scenic flight over the city. Overnight at Copacabana Palace.

Day 4 - Petropolis

Today visit the former royal summer residence of Petropolis (1,5 hours / 68 km). After lunch, continue to Teresopolis (1,5 hours/55 km), the gateway to Serra dos Órgãos National Park. At the entrance to the city stop at Mirante do Soberbo to appreciate dramatic views of the mountains. Head out and follow a trail of a moderate difficulty, called Trilha Cartão Postal (1 km), followed by a 15 min easy walk to a natural spring. The path presents a beautiful view of the mountains, Dedo de Deus, Escalavrado, Santo Antônio and Dedo de Nossa Senhora. After the hike enjoy a cold beer at Villa St. Gallenthen return to Rio. Overnight at Copacabana Palace.

Day 5 - Vale do Cafe

After breakfast, depart from Rio de Janeiro through the green hills to Barra do Pirai, the pearl of Vale do Paraíba (2 hours). Visit Fazenda São Joao da Prosperidade, an active livestock farm with a sausage factory. Wander the well-maintained grounds and visit the plantation. Continue to Fazenda Allianca. The farm encourages a healthier organic lifestyle. They produce coffee and special buffalo cheese. Enjoy a gastronomic lunch and a coffee tour. Get to know the history that made the region the most important coffee production in the second half of 19th century. Learn about the coffee-making process. In the evening, return to Rio. Day 6 - Angra dos Reis

Today depart to Angra dos Reis, a historic town with picturesque whitewashed colonial architecture. The Bay of Angra counts over 300 islands, each one more beautiful than the previous one. Its unique composition turns into a beautiful green labyrinth. After check-in, take a boat trip (6 hours) to: Jurubaíba (Praia do Dentista), Ilha das Botinas, Praia das Flechas (stop for lunch), and Estenorio beach. With its crystal clear waters, these small islands are perfect for snorkeling and marvelling with the thousands of tiny colored fish that live there. On your return enjoy a relaxing spa session at the hotel. Overnight at Fasano Angra dos Reis.

Day 7 - Angra dos Reis

Today enjoy a day at leisure on the beach, taking in the tropical sun. Children up to 12 years old can participate in activities at the hotel’s kids club, a space dedicated to play that has games, activities, a children’s pool and a team ready to help the little ones. Children up to 4 years old must be accompanied by a responsible adult. The club is open daily from 09:00 to 19:00. Alternatively, take another boat trip to the nearby islands and snorkel with colourful fish. Equipment will be provided and a packed lunch can be arranged. Overnight at Fasano Angra dos Reis.

Day 8 - Paraty

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the colonial town of Paraty. From lush forests to the idyllic beaches and bays, Paraty is a playground for beach fans and a bit of history. The town has a laid-back vibe and offers a well-preserved architecture with baroque churches, cobblestone streets, and whitewashed buildings. Take a walking tour through the charming streets learning about the legends of past centuries as you visit churches, museums, and historic homes. In the evening, take a walk through Paraty’s bustling streets, and enjoy some live music at a local restaurant. Overnight at Pousada Literaria.

Day 9 - Picinguaba

Today, depart to a tranquil bay of Picinguaba, located at the junction of Serra da Bocaína National Park and Serra do Mar National Park, in the heart of the Atlantic Forest. Time flows softly here, the beach is perfect for swimming in crystalline waters. Discover the beach on foot or in a colorful wooden canoe. Take a boat trip to the wonderful nearby islands. You can also walks through the forest hearing the calls of birds and looking for spectacular waterfalls. Fish scallops with native fishermen and cook together a flavourful meal. This activity is great fun for both children and adults — a relaxing, educational experience that will connect everyone with the people who embrace traditional fishing. Overnight at Pousada Picinguaba. 

Day 10 - Departure to Sao Paulo

Today continue to Sao Paulo (4 hours). You will be transferred to the airport for your flight. Alternatively, spend a few more days in the region and discover the countryside of Sao Paulo state. Visit old historic farms, learn about coffee production and take horse-riding trips across beautiful valleys. Enjoy authentic organic gastronomy, the rustic tranquility of charming countryside, while staying at small luxury farms. Most of the fazendas have heated pools and spa treatments can be arranged. Children will enjoy connecting with animals and preparing traditional meals with the main cook.
