This tour will take you to one of the most amazing and largely untouched area within the Brazilian Amazon located within the Menkragnoti Indigenous Territory, on the banks of river Iriri with its crystal clear emerald waters. The area has super-limited access for research purposes. Kendjam is a small village hidden right in the middle of the most preserved Kayapó territory, with an area of more than 5 million hectares of intact Amazon Forest. Kayapó People are a hidden treasure and the last guardians of the Amazon Jungle. Meet the 700 indigenous people living, isolated from the world. Their cosmology, ritual life and social organization are extremely rich and complex. Visit a highly restricted indigenous territories of Brazil that host some of the most pristine flora and fauna  of the Amazon. Hike through trails in the Amazon with Kayapó Warriors and learn about their hunting techniques while searching for unique wildlife of the region. Get a Kayapó body painting. Enjoy morning and afternoon boat safaris, searching for tapirs, great river otters, deer, as well as jaguars and pumas. Enjoy the comforts of a boutique tented camp with a private chef and host while exploring some of the most uncharted areas of the Brazilian Amazon. By visiting this area you are directly contributing to the development of local social projects, infrastructure, medical and education project. Luggage – max. 20 kg per person. Avoid bags with a rigid structure, bring soft and malleable suitcases in order to facilitate their accommodation on the small plane.

Day 1 - Arrival in Manaus

Arrive in Manaus, the capital of Brazil’s largest state, Amazonas. It is an ideal starting point to explore the Amazon region. Boats are the main means of transportation here. On arrival you will be transferred to the hotel in the center of Manaus. Overnight at Juma Opera Hotel.

Day 2 - Manaus to Kendjam Lodge

After a very early breakfast, transfer to the airport to catch a 8-seater Cessna Grand Caravan chartered flight to the Kayapó Camp airstrip departing at 7am. The flight duration is 3:15 – 3:30 hours. The village is located 550 miles southeast from Manaus. On arrival you will be greeted by the community with a special welcome ceremony headed by the tribe chief. The event takes place in the warriors hut in the middle of the circular village. A light lunch will be served at the village prior to going to the lodge. After lunch, you will be transferred by speedboat down the Iriri river to the camp, which is located in a wonderful sandy beach area in front of a gorgeous pool of Iriri river, 45 kms downstream from the village. On arrival at the lodge you will be greeted by your host with fresh signature cocktails. After settling in the lodge, the manager will provide a brief tour of the property and orientation session as well as introduce the staff. Dinner is served at the lodge, a special treat prepared by the chef. Overnight at Kendjam Lodge.

Day 3 - Amazon Jungle Safari

After breakfast at the lodge depart for a wildlife trail with the Kayapó warrior and your specialist wildlife guide. On the trail you may see various species of privates including, spider monkeys, howler monkeys, and capuchin moneys as well as various other small animals and birds. Throughout the interpretive trail, the Kayapo warrior will share some of his hunting techniques and knowledge of the jungle. Lunch will be hosted back at the lodge. After lunch, enjoy some leisure time on the river on the stand up paddle board or on a kayak. In the afternoon, set out with your guides and Kayapo warriors on a boat safari along the pristine Iriri river, in search for great river otters, tapir, and Macaws. End the evening with cocktails and appetizers at the lodge followed by a delicious dinner prepared by the lodge chef. After dinner embark on a brief night safari, along the river, in search for nocturnal animals. Overnight at Kendjam Lodge.

Day 4 - Kayapo Cultural Discovery

After breakfast at the lodge enjoy the picturesque morning on the river as you boat up the Iriri to the indigenous village. Learn more about the Kayapó people and their way of life. Spend some time with the Kayapo women as they show one of the most iconic elements of their tradition: body painting. Using natural dyes from the Amazon ingredients, called jenipapo and urucum. Learn how they harvest and process the yucca root, the main ingredient of their diet. Spend some time with the hunters and learn their unique hunting techniques. Learn about unique dances and ceremonies of the Kayapo. For the truly active guests there is an opportunity to climb the large granite hill that is the iconic landmark of the village. Enjoy lunch in the village. After lunch join the Kayapo children for a refreshing swim in the river. Return to the lodge for dinner by speedboat in the lookout for some of the elusive animals that can be found in this pristine natural environment such as the jaguar and black puma. After dinner, enjoy the bonfire on the beach to hear some of the traditional Kayapo stories. Overnight at Kendjam Lodge.

Day 5 - Iriri River Safari

After breakfast at the lodge, set out with your naturalist guide and Kayapo warriors for another wildlife outing this time heading down the river, in search for monkeys and mammals. Enjoy a fresh picnic lunch on the river prepared by your guides. Return to the lodge in the evening for a sundowner and appetizers. Following dinner your specialist guide wil prepare a special astronomy sessions to take in the impeccable night sky of the Amazon. Overnight at Kendjam Lodge.

Day 6 - Return to Manaus

Enjoy a final breakfast at the Kendjam Lodge. Transfer in speedboats for your final river safari back to the indigenous Kayapo village. At the village you will say your farewells to the Kayapo tribe members that were part of your experience. Board your charted turboprop plane back to Manaus. On arrival in Manaus you will be transferred to the lodge. In the afternoon take a city tour in Manaus. Overnight at Villa Amazonia.

Day 7 - Departure

Today, after breakfast you will be transferred to the airport to take your flight.
