Iriri Luxury Amazon

This 7-day ultra-exclusive all-inclusive tour will take you to one of the most amazing and largely untouched area within the Brazilian Amazon located within the Menkragnoti Indigenous Territory, on the banks of river Iriri with its crystal clear emerald waters. The area hosts some of the most pristine flora and fauna  of the Amazon and has super-limited access for research purposes. Visit Kendjam, an isolated  small village of 700 people, hidden right in the middle of the most preserved Kayapó territory, with an area of more than 5 million hectares of intact Amazon Forest. Meet the Kayapó People, the last guardians of the Amazon Jungle. Their cosmology, ritual life and social organization are extremely rich and complex. Hike through trails in the Amazon with Kayapó Warriors and learn about their hunting techniques while searching for unique wildlife of the region. Get a Kayapó body painting. Enjoy morning and afternoon boat safaris, searching for tapirs, great river otters, deer, as well as jaguars and pumas. By visiting this area you are directly contributing to the local development projects, as well as supporting the effort to protect the rainforest. At the end of the day, enjoy coming back to the comforts of a boutique lodge with a private chef.

Luggage – max. 20 kg per person. Avoid bags with a rigid structure, bring soft and malleable suitcases in order to facilitate their accommodation on the small plane.

Day 1 - Arrival in Manaus

Today you will arrive in Manaus, the capital of Brazil’s largest state, Amazonas. On arrival you will be transferred to the hotel in the center of Manaus. Located in the heart of the Amazon rainforest, Manaus presents a colorful mosaic of friendly people, traditional handmade crafts, colonial houses and a vibrant metropolis. At the street markets try ice-cold coconut juices, caipirinhas, fresh fruits and traditional plates. Time permitting, visit the Meeting of Waters by boat, ten km away from Manaus. Here the acid black waters of Rio Negro come together with the alkaline orange waters of Rio Solimões, creating a magnificent spectacle of colors. Overnight at Juma Opera Hotel.

Day 2 - Manaus to Kendjam Lodge

After an early breakfast, transfer to the airport to catch a small charter flight to the Kayapó land, departing at 7 am (3,5 hour flight). On arrival you will be greeted by the community with a special welcome ceremony headed by the chief. A light lunch will be served here. After lunch, you will be transferred by speedboat 45 kms downstream. The lodge is located on a wonderful sandy beach, in front of a gorgeous pool of Iriri river. On arrival, you will be greeted with fresh signature cocktails. After settling in the lodge, the manager will show you around and introduce the whole team. Enjoy a high-class cuisine prepared by your private chef. Overnight at Kendjam Lodge.

Day 3 - Amazon Jungle Safari

After breakfast depart for a wildlife trail with the Kayapó warrior and the naturalist guide. On the trail you may see various species of monkeys, as well as other small animals and birds. During the trail, the Kayapo warrior will share hunting techniques and jungle stories. Lunch will be hosted back at the lodge. After lunch, relax by the river or try stand-up paddling or kayaking. In the afternoon, take a boat safari along the pristine Iriri river with your guides and Kayapo warriors, in search of great river otters, tapirs and macaws. End the evening with cocktails and appetizers, followed by a delicious dinner prepared by the master chef. After dinner embark on a brief night safari in search of nocturnal animals. Overnight at Kendjam Lodge.

Day 4 - Kayapo Cultural Discovery

After breakfast enjoy the picturesque morning on the Iriri river, while sailing to the indigenous village. Today you will learn about the Kayapó people, their way of life, dances and ceremonies. Spend time with the women as they paint the body with iconic tradition elements, using jenipapo and urucum, natural dyes from the Amazon. Learn how they harvest and process the yucca root, the main ingredient of their diet. Spend time with the hunters and learn their unique hunting techniques. Climb the large granite hill near the village. After lunch join the children for a refreshing swim in the river. On your return by speedboat, search for the elusive animals such as the jaguar and black puma. After dinner, enjoy the bonfire on the beach, listening to the stories of the Kayapo. Day 5 - Iriri River Safari

After breakfast at the lodge, set out with your naturalist guide and Kayapo warriors for another wildlife experience, this time heading down the river, in search for rare monkeys and elusive mammals. Enjoy a traditional picnic lunch on the river, prepared by your guides. After a fantastic day in the nature, return to the lodge in the evening to enjoy a spectacular sundowner and signature appetizers with cocktails. Following dinner your specialist guide will prepare a special astronomy sessions to take in the impeccable night sky of the Amazon. This is your last night in this beautiful place. Overnight at Kendjam Lodge.

Day 6 - Return to Manaus

Enjoy one last breakfast at the Kendjam Lodge, then transfer back to the indigenous Kayapo village by speedboat, while enjoying one more river safari. At the village you will say your farewells to the Kayapo tribe members that have taken care of you these last few days and became really good friends. Their energy and kindnesses will forever stay with you and the experience of the Kayapo land will be truly unforgettable. Board your charted turboprop plane back to Manaus. On arrival in Manaus you will be transferred to the lodge. In the afternoon take a city tour in Manaus. Overnight at Villa Amazonia.

Day 7 - Departure

After breakfast you will be transferred to the airport to take your flight. Alternatively, you can chose to spend several more days in the region and discover Rio Negro on a small traditional boat. In comparison with the crystal clear green waters of Xingu, Rio Negro has black waters. The environment is totally different, hiding one of the biggest river archipelagos in the world, the marvelous Anavilhanas, as well as pictures wild river beaches, beautiful small canals and lush rainforest. There are several great boats to choose from in Manaus area: Jacare-Acu and Eco Cruise, as well as further away in Santarem: Tapajos River Cruise.
