Jericoacoara Surfing For Kids

This 7-day beginner surfing course for children is organized in the small village of Jericoaocara, located in the north-eastern part of Brazil. Jericoacoara has epic surfing conditions and is ideal for beginners interested in making the first steps in this awesome sport. The children will learn how to surf, using brand new equipment, in the best spot. Lessons are given by a team of experienced English-speaking certified instructors and are scheduled according to the tide. Besides surfing, you will have a few excursions in the national park to discover a wonderful landscape of dunes and crystal clear lagoons. The ideal conditions for surfing are from November until March – April (from June to October the sea is flat and it is difficult to surf, therefor wingfoil or windsurf can be practiced). The length of the daily training sessions can be altered. Is Jericoacoara a good destination for surfing?
Yes, you have to walk on the right side of the beach, there are perfect waves for someone just starting out. For advanced surfers, you can catch waves from the flag, where the point break is, they are bigger and with more strength. You can get waves that last 1,5 minutes and more – so much fun awaits!

Is equipment included?
Yes, you can take the long board and fun board

What kind of classes do you offer?
We offer both individual classes and group classes

What is the best time of the day to surf in Jericoacoara?
It depends on the tide, it is always good to be in the water 1 hour or 2 hours before and after the tide is dry or full

Do I need to know how to swim?
It’s always good to know how to swim. But the waves are long and the water is shallow. The sea in Jericoacoara is normally calm, perfect for learning.

Are you at risk of getting hurt?
Normally the beach in front of the village is wide and even. There is only one corner full of rocks and shells where there is a risk of cutting your foot when you fall off the board.

How many classes do I need to take to learn?
It really depends on each person. Right from the first class you can generally stand up. There are several elements to take into account and always work on, the game of balance, posture, positioning of the feet on the board, where you look when catching a wave, how to fall off the board, control of the board, the wind and so on. One week is more than enough.

Shall I rent a board without knowing how to surf and just try it out on my own?
We don’t recommend renting a board without knowing how to surf, it can be frustrating for you because you won’t be able to catch waves without taking lessons.

Is it easy to surf?
Learning to surf is easy, as long as you get the main points of what to do and if you have the right equipment.

The ideal conditions for surfing in Jericoacoara are from November until March – April (from June to October the sea is flat and it is difficult to surf, therefor wingfoil or windsurf can be practiced).
