Day 1 - Cuiaba

Today you will land in Cuiabá, where you will be picked up at the airport and transferred to the lodge in the Pantanal, along farms and cattle ranches (2,5h). In Pocone take the Transpantaneira Road driving above the water level, watching the flora and fauna – a photo safari with several stops along the way. On arrival at the lodge, refresh yourself with welcome drinks and check-in. Later, take a walk through the surroundings of the lodge and the observation tower. After dinner, take a night walk. Although it is less known than the Amazon, the Pantanal remains one of the most unspoiled and abundant habitats in the world. Overnight at Araras Ecolodge.

Day 2 - Pantanal

After breakfast, take a photo safari through a tarmac road towards Clarinho or Corixo rivers. Board a canoe and paddle down the river, exploring the forest and mangroves. Here you can see a colony of ariranhas – giant river otters. You may spot a family playing with babies, teaching them how to swim and fish. Ariranhas are very playful with their family but fierce with other animals. You will have a chance to fish piranha and lambaris for a barbecue lunch. In the afternoon, trek the Howler Monkey Trail to the observation tower for a magnificent view of the sunset. After dinner, join a night drive in search of nocturnal animals. Overnight at Araras Ecolodge.

Day 3 - Pantanal

After breakfast, enjoy a horseback ride to explore remote flooded areas of the Pantanal plain. The Pantaneiro horse is docile and has adapted, through the centuries, to breathe while eating with its nose under the water. In this region, the horse is the Pantaneiro man best friend, a daily companion during work and leisure. Return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, walk the Rondon Trail towards the Jabiru Stork Tower, where you can watch a Jabiru Stork nest. Return to the lodge for dinner. During the night walks it is so spectacular to see the colonies of jacare (caimans), as their eyes shine like candle lights. Overnight at Araras Ecolodge.

Day 4 - Pantanal to Amazon

Today you will be transferred back to Cuiabá early in the morning for your flight to the Southern Amazon. On arrival you will be transferred by car for about 1h, followed by a lovely 30 min boat trip on the Cristalino River and you shall reach the lodge by 4:00 pm. You will stay in an exceptional ecological retreat in the middle of the rainforest, within the comfort of a luxurious modern lodge offering a memorable experience of nature. On the river there is a relaxing floating deck. In the evening, the open log fire creates a cheerful atmosphere for enjoying the lush nature and a sky full of stars. Overnight at Cristalino Lodge.

Day 5 - Amazon

Here there is a different environment from the wetlands of the Pantanal, so by coming here you will experience two different ecosystems of Brazil. Activities include walks in the nature, observation tower, canoeing, birdwatching, and a fascinating array of wildlife. This is a more elevated part of the Amazon, which means that the river does not flood the forest, allowing walks along the forest trails at any time of the year and increasing the chances of spotting animals. Educational trips to the observation towers are so interesting. Catch the sunrise and sunset from above the rainforest is truly breathtaking. Overnight at Cristalino Lodge.

Day 6 - Amazon

After breakfast, choose an activity which is different from the previous day. The tranquil waters of the River Cristalino are perfect for canoeing and safe and comfortable equipment is provided by the hotel. Since canoeing is a quiet, peaceful activity, it frequently provides excellent opportunities to observe birds and monkeys along the river banks. In this region, several flagship species of Brazilian fauna and flora can be found, such as eagles, giant river otters, monkeys, peccaries, saki, parrots and aracari, brazil-nut tree, mahogany and maripa palm. Only imagine the sounds of nature! We think this is a great place for relaxation. Overnight at Cristalino Lodge.

Day 7 - Amazon

Today take a boat trip to some remote trails which are only accessible by boat, and on the journey you will have the opportunity to observe wildlife along the rivers. Nature walks along the 30 km network of trails offer small groups of visitors the chance to gain a deep understanding of the tropical ecosystem. One of the trips includes a visit to the River Teles Pires to enjoy the sunset. The meeting of the waters of the Teles Pires with those of the River Cristalino is a fascinating intermingling of the respective light and dark shades. This is similar to the Meeting of Waters in Manaus, but in a more private atmosphere. Overnight at Cristalino Lodge.

Day 8 - Departure

Enjoy a beautiful morning before your departure. Today you will leave the lodge at 9:30 am, with an expected arrival to the airport at 11:00 am. Lunch will be included. According to your international flight, further arrangements will be made. Although getting to this part of Brazil requires more time, it is worth the effort – the unspoiled rainforest is just perfect and these lodges are the best in the area. For a complete Brazilian experience, continue to the beach.  Check out our Brazil beach breaks and let us know if you would like to combine them. Alternatively, head to the Southern Pantanal and discover Bonito and more wildlife or stay for a few more days and look for the elusive jaguar.
