The Xingu basin offers the most prolific fishery in the Amazon. The river flows through virgin primary Amazon forest, protected by the Kayapo indigenous people, one of the most important Indian ethnic groups in Amazon. Their cosmology, ritual life and social organization are extremely rich and complex. Visit the highly restricted indigenous territories of Brazil that host some of the most pristine flora and fauna of the Amazon. Day 1 - Arrival in Manaus

Today you will arrive in Manaus, the capital of Brazil’s largest state, Amazonas. On arrival you will be met at the airport and transferred to the hotel in the historic center. Manaus is the best starting point for Amazon exploration trips and expeditions. Boats are the main means of transportation here. Today take the time to unwind after your long flight. Manaus builds its history on a mix of cultures between indigenous Brazilian tribes and European settlers. Its gastronomic tradition offers a great cultural voyage, and we highly recommend spending the evening at one of the best restaurants in Manaus for an authentic dining experience. Day 2 - Departure to Xingu Lodge

After breakfast you will be transferred to the airport to catch your charter flight to the mythological Xingu river, deep in the virgin jungle (3,5 hours flight). On arrival you will take a 20 min boat ride upstream to reach the lodge, which is located on the bank of Xingu river, looking out over a gorgeous rapid. You will be greeted with fresh signature cocktails and after settling the manager will brief you and introduce the Brazilian and Kayapo staff. In the afternoon take a short trail in the jungle with the indigenous guides and then enjoy a magnificent sunset view. Every evening you will be delighted by the chef’s delicious gourmet cuisine. Day 3 - Wildlife with warriors

Today the breakfast is served at 06:30. After breakfast depart for a wildlife trail with the Kayapo warriors. On the trail you may see various species of rare monkeys, as well as other small animals and birds. The Kayapo warrior will share some of their hunting techniques and their knowledge of the jungle. Lunch will be hosted back at the lodge, followed by a special massage and a refreshing time at the pool. After lunch, take a boat safari along the pristine Xingu river, in search of great river otters, tapirs, and macaws. End the evening with cocktails and appetizers, followed by a delicious dinner prepared by your private chef. After dinner embark on a brief night safari along the river, in search for nocturnal animals. Overnight at Xingu Lodge.

Day 4 - Kayapo Culture Discovery

Today the breakfast will be served early, at 6:30. After breakfast visit the Kayapo people in the picturesque Kamotjam village. Spend time with the women while they design tradition body paintings, using natural jenipapo and urucum dyes from the Amazon. You can get painted as well. Learn about indigenous dancing, ceremonies and lifestyle. Spend time with the hunters in the jungle, learning about unique hunting techniques. After lunch, swim in the river with the children. During your return, search for the jaguar and black puma on the river. At the lodge enjoy appetizers and cocktails. After dinner, listen to traditional Kayapo stories at the bonfire. Day 5 - Catch and Release Fly Fishing

At 6:30am you will have breakfast at the lodge. Set out down the river with your naturalist guide and Kayapo warriors, searching for monkeys and mammals. Sail along runs, rapids, deep pools, flats and jungle creeks in a specially designed aluminum skiff. Today you will experience a superior fly fishing experience by the natives. Take traditional picnic lunch with fresh fish on the river, prepared by the Kayapo warriors. Connect with the Kayapo like never before. Return to the lodge in the evening for a sundowner and appetizers. Following dinner you will have a special astronomy session under the impeccable night sky of the Amazon. Overnight at Xingu Lodge.

Day 6 - Return to Manaus

Enjoy one last breakfast at the Xingu Lodge and then transfer by speedboats (25 min) back to the indigenous Pukararakre Kayapo village while enjoying one more river safari on the way. At the village it is time to say your farewells to the warmhearted warriors who have become good friends. Here you will board the charter plane back to Manaus (3,5 hours of flight). Upon arrival in Manaus you will be transferred to the hotel in the historic center. Spend the afternoon discovering the city, including one of the most beautiful theaters in Brazil, Teatro Amazonas, a jewel of the Belle Époque, the golden times of the Rubber Cycle. Day 7 - Departure

After breakfast you will be transferred to the airport to take your flight. Alternatively, you can chose to spend several more days in the region and discover Rio Negro on a small traditional boat. In comparison with the crystal clear green waters of Xingu, Rio Negro has black waters. The environment is totally different, hiding one of the biggest river archipelagos in the world, the marvelous Anavilhanas, as well as pictures wild river beaches, beautiful small canals and lush rainforest. There are several great boats to choose from in Manaus area: Jacare-Acu and Eco Cruise, as well as further away in Santarem: Tapajos River Cruise.
