Yoga in Chapada dos Veadeiros

The 9-day yoga & wellness program, guided by a professional yoga instructor and a masseuse, includes early morning yoga sessions followed by scenic hiking trails in the area of Chapada dos Veadeiros in Brazil. Swasthya  and Kundalini yoga will be practices. The physical intensity will be adapted to your needs. Stretch the body and use short breathing exercise, which help controlling muscle pain and tiredness, offering relaxation and meditation. Take a deep immersion and connect with yourself and the chapada, perceiving its beauty, while arising your consciousness. The breathing exercises and positions will vary depending on your physical condition, your experience with yoga and how you feel. The program includes accommodation in small boutique hotels and visiting some of the most beautiful sites in the area. It is an excellent choice for a group of friends, couples or families who like active trips and are looking to refill their batteries.The hiking trails are not extremely demanding, but require a good physical condition. The program can be adapted to an easier pace or can be made more challenging for experienced yoga lovers and trekkers.

International flights are not included in the package price. We give you the freedom to book the flights yourself, use miles and choose your preferred airline, and if you are stuck we can help you find the right connections. Return flights to Brazil start from £800 per person, depending on the connections and time of the year. Fly to Brasilia (BSB).

For families and groups (starting with 5 pax), we can book domestic flights in Brazil, during the high season, and if the trip is part of a more complex itinerary. This is to ensure a seamless travel and no complications.

This is a sample itinerary and prices are correct at the time of writing. We can tailor it to suit your plans by changing the length of the trip or the order of activities. More days can be added. Other hotels can be chosen, according to your liking. You can visit the Chapada year round. For hiking it could be good to come during the dry season from May to October, as there are more chances of rain from November to April.

NOTE: at Rio do Prata one of the waterfalls has a demanding access not suitable for everybody (e.g. elderly, kids).

Day 1 - Arrival in Brasilia

Today you will arrive in Brasilia, the capital city of Brazil. You will be picked up at the airport and transferred to the hotel. Today unwind and relax after your long international flight. In the afternoon take a cycling city tour to discover the iconic architecture designed by the great Oscar Niemeyer, the poet of curves! Niemeyer reinvented modernism in his own way, adding a national identity to it. The architect always thought of an architecture that would impress both the user of the building, but also those passing by. Oscar’s works are large, curvy and light, being reinforced by concrete structures. Overnight at Hotel Melia Brasil 21.

Day 2 - Paraíso dos Cactos

After breakfast you will be trasnferred to Chapada dos Veadeiros. On the way, stop to visit the site of Paraíso dos Cactos. This will be your first encounter with the Brazilian savannah, the cerrado. Take a light scenic 7 km trail with two stops for swimming in refreshing pools with crystalline water and visit one waterfall. Arriving in Alto Paraiso at about lunch time, a delicious homemade vegetarian Brazilian meal will be prepared for you at the pousada. Spend the afternoon at leisure. Go to bed early, preparing for an early sunrise yoga session the next day. Overnight at Pousada Meu Talento.

Day 3 - Janela & Vale da Lua

Wake up at 3 am and hike to Mirante da Janela (8 km). At sunrise, you will have the first Swasthya yoga session on a beautiful platform. The experience is breathtaking. This Brazilian line of yoga focuses on permanency or flow. Return to the village for a delicious breakfast. Then, visit Vale de Lua for spectacular rock formations. Later, enjoy an Abhyanga ayurvedic relaxing massage, done with warmed coconut or sesame seed oil. Many reflexology points are pressed to clear the energy canals of the body. The benefits include reducing muscle stiffness and stress, improving skin health and providing lymphatic drainage. Overnight at Pousada Meu Talento.

Day 4 - Macaquinhos

In the morning you will have the yoga session with your professional instructor. After a delicious Brazilian breakfast discover river Macaquinhos circuit, an off the beaten path trail with beautiful unspoiled sites. Drive of 1 hour on a tarmac road, then walk down to the sites. The hike will be more challenging today, but it will reward you with 11 pristine waterfalls, crystalline emerald pools for swimming, the beautiful canyon of Pedra Furada,  resembling Vale da Lua, and exuberant nature. Take recharging hydro-massages under the energetic streams and enjoy spending this day surrounded by nature. Overnight at Hidden Treasure.

Day 5 - Rio do Prata

Today wake up early and head to Cavalcante (60 km) to visit the splendid waterfalls of Rio do Prata in the remote community of Kalunga. Discover 7 pristine waterfalls with emerald green water, scattered along a moderate trail of 14 km, among which Cachoeira Pratinha,  Cachoeira Urubu and Cachoeira Rei do Prata. The springs blend well with he lush green vegetation and the rocks, creating a safe heaven for relaxation, hidden away in the middle of the cerrado. You will make picnic stops along the trail and adapt your pace, spend as much time as you want at the waterfalls. After the trail return to Alto Paraíso. Overnight at Chale Rossignol.

Day 6 - Full Relaxation

Today you will have a day of yoga, meditation and healing, focused on relieving the muscles as well as decrease anxiety and stress. You will practice Kundalini yoga to awaken the consciousness and strengthen the nervous system. The vibrations of special instruments will activate the lymphatic system, increasing the state of well-being through sound meditation. Then, lay on the top of the therapeutic lyre table, feeling the sounds getting through your body, reverberating the column and giving a deep relaxation. The sound massage is perceived by the whole body, achieving also the nervous system, respiration and muscles. Overnight at Chale Rossignol.

Day 7 - Segredo & Lajeados

The morning yoga sessions are adapted to your physical, emotional and spiritual needs. Every class is different and the asanas (positions) are not repeated. You are not encouraged to cross your own limits with violence or excess. Learn the transition from the comfort zone to evolution. The focus will be on stretching and releasing muscle tension, breathing exercise, relaxing the mind and awakening your consciousness towards the magic of the chapada. After the yoga session, hike to the tall waterfall of Cachoeira do Segredo and its green pool. Stop for a picnic lunch and relax at Lajeados. In the afternoon, stop at Jardim de Maytrea for a beautiful view of the cerrado. Overnight at Pousada Maya.

Day 8 - Catarata dos Couros

After the morning yoga session, visit Catarata dos Couros. The 8 km trails has 4 spots: Muralha, Almecegas 1000, Cachoeira do Parafuso and Cachoeira of Buração. Stop for a picnic lunch during your hike, at your own pace. Upon your return, you will have a 60-min session of energizing Yôga massage performed on a massage mat or on the floor. By stretching, the goal is to improve body flexibility and posture. It is done with sesame seed oil and massage powder. Muscle and joint stiffness will be reduced, restoring the energy levels. The skin health will be improved by exfoliation. Overnight at Pousada Maya.

Day 9 - Label & Departure

Today you will have the last morning yoga session followed by a healthy vegetarian breakfast. You driver will take you back to Brasilia Airport. On your way, time permitting, stop at Cachoeira do Label, for one last hike.

* There are many other beautiful spots in the area of Chapada dos Veadeiros. Depending on the season and weather, one can also visit Caracol, Cachoeira Dragao, Raizama, Macacao, Candaru, the trails inside the national park. Come back again for another visit.
