When to Visit

Medellín, known as the City of Eternal Spring, enjoys a pleasant climate year-round. The best time to visit is during the dry seasons, from December to March and from July to August, when the weather is most favorable for outdoor activities and city tours.

What to Wear

Dry Season: Light layers, as mornings and evenings can be cool, but afternoons are warmer. A light jacket or sweater is advisable.

Rainy Season: Waterproof jackets and umbrellas are essential due to frequent rains. Layering remains important to adjust to varying temperatures throughout the day.

Day 1 - Fly to Medellin

Catch a flight to Medellín, a city that pulses with creativity and progress, located in the heart of Antioquia. Built north to south in the Aburrá valley, the city is surrounded on both sides by majestic mountain ranges. Medellin is often called “the city of eternal spring” due to its perfect climate. After check-in, take a guided city tour. Visit Museo de Arte Moderno, showcasing contemporary works that reflect the city’s cultural evolution. Continue to the heart of Medellín, to Botero Plaza where Fernando Botero’s voluptuous sculptures fill the public space, and the nearby Museum of Antioquia which houses an extensive collection of his works. Spend the rest of the day exploring El Poblado, a trendy neighborhood known for its cafes, restaurants, and nightlife. Indulge in Medellín’s rich culinary offerings and try local dishes such as bandeja paisa. Overnight at Click Clack Hotel.

Day 2 - Medellin

Begin your day with a journey to Arví Park, accessible by the iconic Medellín Metrocable, which offers an aerial view of the city’s landscapes transitioning into lush greenery. Spend the morning hiking through trails that offer both tranquility and scenic vistas. After descending, venture into the transformative space of Comuna 13, a neighborhood that has morphed from a troubled past to a vibrant community filled with expressive street art and resilient spirits. The evening offers a cultural twist with a local tango show, celebrating Medellín’s affection for the dance, reflective of its deep-rooted cultural connections. Overnight at Click Clack Hotel.

Day 3 - Envigado & Sabaneta

The day is dedicated to exploring the neighboring areas of Envigado and Sabaneta, which embody the traditional paisa culture. Start in Envigado at the Otraparte Museum, the former home of philosopher Fernando González, now a cultural center surrounded by gardens that invite contemplation. In the afternoon, proceed to Sabaneta, where you can mingle with locals in Parque Sabaneta and enjoy traditional Antioquian dishes. The culinary adventure continues back in Medellín with a cooking class that offers hands-on experience in preparing local specialties, enriching your cultural and gastronomic appreciation. Day 4 - Santa Fe de Antioquia

Embark on a drive to Santa Fe de Antioquia (1 hour 15 min),along a scenic route, taking you through lush landscapes and offering beautiful views. This tropical town is a real time capsule offering preserved colonial architecture and cobbled streets. Spend your day exploring this historical marvel, soaking in its tranquil ambiance and architectural beauty. Founded in 1541 the town was the capital of the Antioquia Province until 1826. Visit Puente de Occidente or Bridge of the West over the Cauca river, a National Monument of Colombia. It’s one of the oldest and longest suspension bridges in Latin America. Day 5 - Santa Fe to Guatape

Travel to Guatapé (3 hours), one of Colombia’s most colorful and picturesque towns, driving through the Colombian countryside lined with beautiful rolling hills, small towns, farms, and friendly people. After check-in, meander through vibrant streets, known for its colorful zócalos (baseboards) that decorate the facades of its buildings. You can spend hours discovering the zocalos by sauntering through the cobblestone streets through the town. Each house and business has a theme to their zocalo. Relax in the evening at your hotel, where comfort meets nature, providing a peaceful retreat. Overnight at Luxé Cabañas.

Day 6 - El Peñol Rock

After breakfast, climb the stairs to the top of the stunning El Peñol Rock. According to geologists, the rock is approximately 65 million years old. The monolith offering panoramic views of the surrounding Embalse del Penol lake and islands, stretching to the horizon in every direction. Hundreds of small islets are scattered throughout the deep blue water of the lake as far as the eye could see. Daydream atop of the rock, enjoying a fresh juice while spotting the lakeside homes from above. Upon your descent, take a boat tour on the reservoir (1 hour) enjoying the views of the surrounding landscapes and islands. Overnight at Luxé Cabañas.

Day 7 - Departure

Today return to Medellin (2 hours) to catch your short domestic flight back to Bogotá. Alternatively, you can choose to stay a few more days and explore the region in-depth, visiting other colonial towns of Jardin and La Ceja and beautiful parks such as Río Claro Nature Reserve.
