When to Visit

The best time to visit Palomino is during the dry season from December to April when the weather is most favorable for outdoor activities and beach relaxation. These months see less rainfall and clearer skies, enhancing your experience of the natural and cultural beauty of the area.

Day 1 - Fly to Santa Marta

Begin your Colombian adventure as you land in Santa Marta, greeted by the warm Caribbean breeze and the enchanting blue of the sea. After check-in, explore the city’s heart by visiting the majestic Santa Marta Cathedral, the oldest in Colombia, a beacon of historical architecture. Then stroll through the picturesque streets of the historic center, lined with colorful colonial buildings. Don’t miss out the Quinta de San Pedro Alejandrino, the final resting place of Simón Bolívar, which has beautiful and very interesting gardens and lots of iguanas. Day 2 - Minca

Today, visit the enchanting mountain town of Minca (1 hour drive), where cooler air and lush greenery provide a stark contrast to the coast. Upon arrival, head to the Marinka Waterfalls for a refreshing swim in the natural pools surrounded by verdant jungle. Next, visit La Victoria coffee farm. Learn about traditional coffee production and enjoy some freshly brewed coffee. Then hike to Los Pinos for breathtaking panoramic views of the region, where the mountains meet the Caribbean Sea. Next, visit Pozo Azul, a natural swimming hole, to spot a variety of tropical bird species. In the afternoon, relax by the river or enjoy stunning valley views from some of the terraces. Day 3 - Mountain trekking

Today, venture deep into the lush depths of Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, a majestic mountain range that rises abruptly from the coast, one of the highest coastal ranges in the world. Start the hike in Machete Pelao. Marvel at panoramic views that sweep from the lush mountains down to the sparkling Caribbean Sea. Traverse tropical forests teeming with diverse flora and fauna. This invigorating trek is a celebration of nature’s wonders, offering both a physical challenge and a sensory feast. As evening approaches, continue to Tayrona. Day 4 - Tayrona National Park

Day 5 - Cabo San Juan

After breakfast, starting from the El Zaino entrance, hike to Cabo San Juan, one of the most picturesque destinations in Tayrona National Park, where lush jungle meets the serene sea. This spot offers perfect postcard views and a chance to relax on beaches that feel like private havens. The hike is considered moderate (5-8 km) and it take from 2 to 4 hours each way, depending on pace and trail conditions. You’ll pass by streams, dense jungle, and scenic viewpoints. Spend your afternoon soaking up the sun or swimming in the clear waters, followed by another peaceful night in the natural embrace of Tayrona, where the sounds of the forest lull you to sleep. Day 6 - Snorkeling

Day 8 - Indigenous Villages
