Dry Season (summer) runs from December to March. This season is marked by reduced rainfall and warmer temperatures. It is generally considered the best time to visit many parts of the country, especially the Caribbean coast, Andean regions, and the Amazon rainforest. The dry season provides ideal conditions for outdoor activities, beach vacations, and exploring Colombia’s natural beauty.

Wet Season (winter) runs from April to November. Characterized by heavier rainfall and slightly cooler temperatures, especially in the afternoons. The intensity and frequency of rain can vary significantly by region. The wet season can still be a great time to visit Colombia, as the landscape becomes lush and green, perfect for nature lovers and adventure seekers.

• Caribbean Coast: Dry Season runs from December to April and the wet season runs from May to November. Expect warm, tropical weather year-round, with temperatures averaging around 28-32°C (82-90°F). Ideal for beach holidays and water activities. The coastal regions, including Cartagena and Santa Marta, are hot and humid year-round, with the dry season being more favorable for beach activities. During the wet season, occasional thunderstorms can cool down the otherwise hot days, and the evenings can be quite pleasant.The Caribbean Coast, including destinations such as Cartagena, Santa Marta, San Andrés, and Tayrona, is best visited from December to April when the weather is dry and sunny. Although these regions can be visited year-round, the rainy season from May to November sees more intense showers, particularly in October and November. For those looking for a beach break, these times might be less ideal due to heavier rainfall.

• Andean Region (Bogotá, Medellín): The dry season runs from December to March and July to August and the wet season runs from April to June and from September to November. Experience temperate weather, which varies significantly with altitude, with Bogotá having cooler temperatures around 14-18°C (57-64°F) and Medellín, known as the “City of Eternal Spring,” enjoying mild weather at around 22-25°C (72-77°F) year-round. The Andean region experiences mild temperatures due to its elevation. Bogotá, the capital, can be chilly, while Medellín enjoys a spring-like climate year-round. The wet season in the Andes can bring misty. The Andean region, encompassing cities like Bogotá, Medellín, and Villa de Leyva, experiences its driest months from December to March and July to August. Bogotá is cooler, with temperatures ranging from 14-20°C (57-68°F), while Medellín enjoys mild weather year-round, earning it the nickname “City of Eternal Spring.” This region sees moderate rain, often in the evenings, and offers a pleasant climate for most of the year.

• Cano Cristales: The best time to visit is from July to October, when the river is in full color. December to May is not the optimal season, as the river is less colorful, and it may be off-limits.

• Amazon Rainforest: The dry Season runs from July to September and the wet season runs and the wet season runs from October to June. Expect hot and humid conditions with frequent rainfall, typical temperatures range from 25-30°C (77-86°F). The Amazon region is hot and humid with substantial rainfall, supporting its dense rainforest. The Amazon region is ideal for travel between June and September, offering a break from the heavier rains experienced from October to May. • Pacific Coast: This is one of the wettest regions in the world. The wet season runs year-round, with heavy rainfall and high humidity. Experience a tropical climate with high humidity and temperatures averaging 25-28°C (77-82°F). This region also receives significant rainfall. The Pacific coast, including cities like Buenaventura, experiences significant rainfall throughout the year, making it lush and green. This region is ideal for those who enjoy rainforests and biodiversity, with the wet conditions supporting a rich variety of flora and fauna. The Pacific Coast, known for its biodiversity and whale watching, is best visited from July to October despite its high rainfall year-round. This region experiences significant rainfall, particularly in the afternoon and evening, but these months offer the best conditions for marine wildlife viewing and other outdoor activities.

• Eastern Plains (Llanos): The dry Season runs from December to March, and the wet season runs and the wet season runs from April to November.  The Llanos region experiences a tropical savanna climate, with a marked dry season that is ideal for exploring the vast plains. This region is known for its wildlife and is an excellent destination for birdwatching and safaris, particularly during the dry season when animals gather around water sources.
