Location: Akiba Lodge Anjahakely is located in the village of Anjahankely, 3-hour drive south of Diégo Suarez, in the heart of the protected area of Andrafiamena, surrounded by a magnificent landscape of mountains and forests. The Analamerana Special Reserve is the last refuge of the critically endangered all-black Perrier’s sifaka, of which only 250 or so individuals remain in the wild.
How to get here: Fly to Diego Suarez (DIE) in the region of Diana and take a road transfer to the south, to Fokontany Andrafiabe, to the village of Anjahankely, which is located between the town Diego Suarez and the port of Ankify. The lodge is a complementary stop on the way to the National Park of Ankarana. It takes 2h 30 min from Diego to Marotaolana (80 kms along RN6) and then there are another 20 km of tarmac road from the Marotaolana to the lodge (around 1 hour).
The road from Marotaolana to Anjahankely, is accessible only by a 4×4 and, only between April and December. The site is not reachable during the rainy season between January and March.
Structure: The camp and the catering belong to the villagers of of Anjahankely. The Akiba Lodge Anjahakely has 8 spacious wooden bungalows facing the forest with private bathroom and running hot water. The restaurant and its bar & lounge are on a large raised terrace with a breathtaking view over the extensive forests. Solar power is used to provide electricity and Wi-Fi 24 hours.
