Le Domaine d'Ambola

Location: Le Domaine d’Ambola is a rustic beachfront lodge, located 90 km south of Toliara. There is a private beach protected by a coral reef just in front of the lodge. What a paradise! The only hotel close to Tsimanampetsotsa Lake with the pink flamingos.

How to get here: To get here you will have to fly to Toliara (TLE) and then take an early morning boat transfer to Anakao. Then continue souht for about 1,5 hour till the lodge.

Structure: This remote hotel has 4 large double bedrooms, 1 large bedroom with 2 double beds and 2 small double bedrooms. All the rooms have a private bathroom. Extra beds can be fitted. There’s a large space around the hotel where everyone can find their hammock, their deckchair for a moment of calm or relaxation.

Why staying here: With a dry climate and temperatures around 28/30°C on average all year round, it is a dream place to relax, get away from it all and enjoy the warm waters of the Indian Ocean, the specificity of the fauna and the flora of the great Malagasy South as well as the sweetness and joie de vivre of its inhabitants. The white sand beach and the lagoon with transparent waters are great for peaceful snorkeling or canoe trips. From June to October, humpback whales come to mate and reproduce on passing in front of the hotel with the naked eye. Explore sacred caves, ancient baobabs, pachypodiums, banyan trees, turtles, lemurs, birds, flamingos on the lake of Tsimanampetsotsa.
