Ecolodge du Menabe

Location: Ecolodge du Menabe is situated the castaway fishermen village of Belo sur Mer, 3 hours south from Morondava airport, in the south-west of Madagascar. Swimming, walking, kayaking, snorkeling, or just relaxing in a sun lounger with a good book – a dreamy vacation can really be experienced here. Explore the region by boat, buggy or quad.

How to get here: Fly to Morondava (MOQ) and take a 4×4 transfer to the port then a boat transfer (1,5/3 hours) to Belo Sur Mer. The boat departs according to the tide and an overnight stay in Morondava might be required. Alternatively you can get here by land (3-4 hours) from May to November. The rest of the year no land access is possible. 

Structure: Ecolodge du Menabe is surrounded by a garden shaded by casuarina trees. The 12 cute comfortable bungalows are all facing the sea, being built of traditional materials just like the houses of the village.  The lodge uses ecological means such as water towers and wells, solar panels, solar oven, lighting of trees and the garden with solar lamps. The ecolodge is not connected to an electrical network and not using noisy and polluting generators, the electrical power is therefore limited to the essentials. 

Why staying here: This is a true ecological place and the bungalows are very charming and have a relaxing atmosphere. This is a great place to eat fresh seafood, such as lobster, crab, shrimp, squid, groupers, all  straight from the sea. Although difficult to access, this place still retains the splendor of all its authenticity and no mass tourism is present here. It is one of the few nice hotels in the village.
