Location: Iharana Bush Camp is an authentic eco camp, located on the edge of a lake, in front of the Tsingy d’Ankarana, near Mahavavy river, in the north of Madagascar. Here, you are in the middle of nature, in the most unusual camp in Madagascar.
How to get here: The camp is located midway between Ankify and Antsiranana. Fly to Antsiranana (DIE) and drive for about 4-5 hours to the western part of the Ankarana National Park, where the camp is located. Alternatively, fly to Nosy Be (BE), take a 1-hour boat to the mainland island and get to the camp overland (4-5 hours).
Structure: Iharana Bush Camp is the most unusual camps in Madagascar. There are 18 natural cottages are made of organic materials and the architecture is inspired by traditional Malagasy housing. The cottages are made of ochre and earth, the roofs are made of satrana palm tree, and the ‘rooms’ are made from wood, roots, lianas and granite. The mix of these materials gives a very original character to the camp, so that it is in total harmony with its environment. Each cottage is equipped with private bathroom and toilets (cold water). A open mezzanine has a large bed covered with a mosquito net, allowing star gazing at night. The combination of skills, craft industry, arts and materials gives an original aspect to the camp, making it totally harmonious with the environment.
Why staying here: The nicest camp in Ankarana. Explore the many hiking trails in the nearby park of Tsingy d’Ankarana or visit the magestic Mandresy cave. There is a natural swimming pool to relax after hiking and you can also get an open-air massage with Malagasy oils. The camp is not accessible during the wet season.
