Location: The Litchi tree is an intimate eco villa located in the north of Madagascar. The villa is surrounded by litchi and mango trees. In the garden you can spot chameleons, leaf tailed geckos, boas and other snakes. Enjoy the view over the Diego Suarez bay and the Mozambique Channel from the terrace.

How to get here: The Litchi Tree is about 1 hour by car from Diego Suarez. It is the closest hotel to the Amber Mountain National Park (4km), in the small village of Joffreville. 

Structure: The Litchi Tree has six nicely decorated rooms. All the large rooms and en-suit bathrooms are equipped with solar heated water coming from the Amber Mountain waterfall. The main house is a modest bungalow, with an intimate lounge, bar and dining areas. The five hectares of gardens are very pleasant. One can spot chameleons and leaf-tailed geckos.

After a day in the park enjoy a signature cocktail in the charming little red lounge. Local aged rum, selected whiskies, worldwide gins and a list of urban cocktails can be appreciated as well. The french chef serves a original flavours mixed cuisine and they have a wide wine selection.

Why staying here: The nearby park provides  a good range of hiking trails. The Litchi Tree is also a great place as a base to explore the historic port of Diego Suarez and the beautiful coral lagoons of the Emerald Sea.
