Did you always want to visit Madagascar, but wonder if it is a good place to travel with the youngest travellers? The Madagascar with Toddlers Tour is a 7-day itinerary exceptionally designed for parents travelings with small children. Nosy Be island is a suitable place to spend a relaxing beach holiday with babies. In case you would like to visit a bit of the island, we have included short sightseeing escapes to wonderful places, while the babies will be staying with a professional nanny at the hotel. The good thing about Nosy Be is that it is accessible directly on several international connections from Johannesburg, Addis-Ababa and even Europe (seasonally), therefore you skip the hassle of travelling with a baby via Antananarivo. Spend a quality time on a beautiful beach with azure waters while we make sure all your needs as travelling parents are taken care of. The program includes accommodation at a small boutique hotel with a spa and all the needed amenities and services. Board options and an all inclusive basis can be arranged.

International flights are not included in the package price. We give you the freedom to book the flights yourself, use miles and choose your preferred airline, and if you are stuck we can help you find the right connections. Return flights to Madagascar start from £700 per person, depending on the connections and time of the year.

For families and groups (starting with 5 pax), we can book domestic flights in Madagascar, during the high season, and if the trip is part of a more complex itinerary. This is to ensure a seamless travel and no complications.

Day 1 - Welcome to Nosy Be

Today you will arrive to Nosy Be. Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure. You will stay at Vanila Hotel, a nice family-friendly hotel. The rooms are spacious and well equipped, including an AC. The hotel has 2 restaurants, 2 swimming pools, and a huge garden with kids’ areas. The spa is also great to experience. They are located in front of Nosy Sakatia with a very calm sea in front of it. They are far from any village but not isolated thanks to the local tuk-tuk and the hotel vehicles. Toddlers stay free of charge and children under from 2 to 12 have a discount. Overnight at Vanila Hotel & Spa.

Day 2 - Island Tour

Today explore Nosy Be. Start with visiting Andoany – a melting pot of cultures. Mosques, churches and the sacred trees represent many beliefs. You will see the impressive 200 years old Sacred Banyan Tree, the historic Marodoka village and the botanical garden Lemuria Land, located in the middle of an ylang ylang plantation. There is a museum and a distillery of essential oils and rum. Don’t miss Andilana, the most beautiful beach of Nosy-Be with turquoise waters. Finish with a splendid sunset at Mont Passot and the views over the sacred lakes. The legend says that spirits of the Sakalava royal family live in the lakes. Overnight at Vanila Hotel & Spa.

Day 3 - Lokobe Nature Reserve

Today spend some time away from the beach and discover the reserve of Lokobe, a protected forest located in the south-east of Nosy-Be. This reserve shelters a dense primitive forest of about 600ha. In Lokobe, you will discover more about Madagascar’s wildlife. The tropical humid climate has created conditions for the magnificent trees sheltering lemurs, orchids and smaller cute reptiles. Hike in the forest with your guide to meet the famous black lemurs ‘macaco’ and see the local endemic flora and fauna. On your return to the hotel, spend the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at Vanila Hotel & Spa.

Day 4 - Nosy Komba & Nosy Tanikely

Today visit two smaller islands, Nosy Komba and Nosy Tanikely. Start with Nosy Komba, the island with a lush tropical forest. Visit the small lemur park and the local community who are the masters of embroidery. Later on take a 1-hour boat ride to Nosy Tanikely, a protected marine reserve with a spectacular marine life. The island is a true aquarium with a very rich ecosystem of marine life. When you feel that it is time to refresh, a seafood lunch will be prepared for you on the island. Don’t miss the lighthouse at the top of the hill with 360° panoramic views over the region. In the evening return to Nosy Be. Balance the evening at leisure. Overnight at Vanila Hotel & Spa.

Day 5 - Nosy Sakatia

At Vanila Hotel they can provide a nanny so you can enjoy a great escape with the scientists to Nosy Sakatia, just in front of the hotel. After breakfast embark on a boat to visit the tiny island of Sakatia. This place is full of local history and traditions. Take a great expedition with passionate local scientists to swim with dolphins, shark-whales or turtles. It is a shared excursion, but all the staff on board speak both English and French, so there will be no communication issues. On the island visit of local village, relax on the beach and go snorkelling as much as you want. Upon arrival back on Nosy Be, balance the evening at leisure. Overnight at Vanila Hotel & Spa.

Day 6 - Day at leisure

Enjoy a relaxing day on the beach. Alternatively, if you would wish to pumper up, visit the spa in the hotel for a body treatment or relax in the jacuzzi. The experienced team are using locally grown Malagasy ingredients such as coconut oil, ginger, lemon grass, jojoba, katrafay, vetiver, vanilla, rosemary and other essential oils for massage which offer great relaxation. You will smell like heaven 🙂 If interested you can also do a longer trip further south to Nosy Iranja, but it might not be a suitable activity to do with the baby because of the length of the trip. Day 7 - Departure

According to your flight’s schedule, you will be transferred to the airport to take your flight home. If you have to pass via Antananarivo in order to connect to your international flight, we can add additional nights at the beginning and end of the trip in order to tailor the trip up to your needs, making sure your flight connections fit well into the schedule.
