Is May a good time to visit Madagascar? Yes, May is the start of a dry southern winter and is still somehow a continuation of the shoulder season. There’s no rain at all on the west coast until November and average temperatures range between 20-25°C. Madagascar’s interior is green and lush and views from the highlands are spectacular. It is the time of the year when the peach blossom and lavender fields are very pretty. Travel conditions are generally pleasant, despite the occasional chilly morning in the highlands. Whale-watching starts a bit later, in June. In May one can have a chance to celebrate the Donia festival in Nosy Be. We highly recommend visiting Madagascar from May on.
