If you are looking for low key exotic vibes, sandy beaches and tropical weather, sailing is a great way of traveling. Madagascar has some of the most idyllic Indian Ocean beaches offering privacy and spectacular panoramic views. The Madagascar Sailing Holiday is a 7-day beach hopping boat trip in the North of Madagascar, along islands and islets, bays and rivers with beautiful beaches and azure waters. The trip presents a circuit starting and ending in the port of Nosy Be, passing through Nosy Tanikely, the Russian Bay, Radama archipelago islands, Beramamahy river and the iconic  Nosy Iranha. Each day you will visit some of the highlights of the region. The boats are equipped to hold up to 6 people, making it a great opportunity for a private team-building getaway or for families. You will have an experienced team taking care of the navigation and everything you would need on board for your journey. We can tailor this itinerary to suit your plans by changing the length of the trip or the order of activities.

We give you the freedom to book the flights yourself, use miles and choose your preferred airline, and if you are stuck we can help you find the right connections. Return flights to Madagascar start from £700 per person, depending on the connections and time of the year.

For families and groups (starting with 5 pax), we can book domestic flights in Madagascar, during the high season, and if the trip is part of a more complex itinerary. This is to ensure a seamless travel and no complications.

Day 1 - Nosy Tanikely

For the first day, sail for around 1 hour to Nosy Tanikely, home to one of Madagascar’s most magnificent natural parks, a perfect location for scuba diving, snorkeling and swimming, all while exploring beautiful coral reefs. On the island one can hike in the rainforest to meet giant tortoises, lemurs, and other exotic wildlife. The island is green and lush, full of mango and coconut trees. Take the lunch on board and navigate for around 4 hours towards the Russian Bay. Stop at the river mouth, a perfect anchorage for the night, and learn more about the history of the place. Dinner and overnight on board.

Day 2 - Nosy Kalakajoro

Today sail for about 6 hours to Radama archipelago which is consists of 4 islands: Nosy Kalakajoro, Nosy Ovy, Nosy Antanimora and Nosy Valiha. Discover amazing tropical vegetation and beautiful beaches that are rarely visited. The first islet, Nosy Kalakajoro is the highest island. Hike the island’s volcanic rock for some nice ocean views, or go ashore and explore the nomad fishing villages that are famous for their hospitality. At the shipbuilding yards, the craftsmen carve canoes and dhows with a simple adze. Take lunch on the beautiful pristine beach of Radama. Dinner and overnigth onboard.

Day 3 - Nosy Antanimora

After breakfast sail for 1,5h to Nosy Antanimora. As you approach this small island, one could believe in the existence of paradise on earth, the water is surprisingly transparent and once landed the feet sink comfortably into a powdery sand with a brilliant white, the scenery is raw, wild and natural. In the north, there are many rocky islets covered with a rich sea bird life. Anchor in Nosy Antanimora overnight, and explore the island’s town where you can try authentic food! Overnight on board.

Day 4 - Nosy Valiha

Today sail for about 1h to Nosy Valiha. Magnificent beaches of fine white sand, a remarkable black pebble beach and a mangrove of rare beauty bring a magical atmosphere to this place. The crystal clear water of the lagoon is perfect for swimming and snorkeling. The island is known for its large variety of coral and abundance of fish. On the periphery and on the heights of the island, the vegetation is lush and wild, composed of tamarind trees, mango trees, banana trees and coconut palms. The island is beautifully undulating with a sumptuous sea view. Relax while watching the sundowners with a drink. Dinner and overnight on board.

Day 5 - Nosy Ofy

Today visit the virgin coral reef close to the beautiful white sand beaches of Nosy Ofy, a paradise for shell collectors. Anchor on the East side of the island, in a protected anchorage. The island has a lush vegetation of coffee, mango and jack fruit plantations. It is the largest of the islands in the archipelago, around 10km long and 3km wide. Discover the small village on the hill, Mahabo, which is home to the royal tombs. The islet has very beautiful seabeds for diving. Dinner and overnight on board.

Day 6 - Beramamahy River

On day six sail 30 miles for about 6 hours to arrive at a small settlement on the banks of Baramahamay river, for a change of pace and scenery. Along the river, you’ll find endless wonders, like white sand beaches and lush greenery of mangroves hiding exceptional wildlife. Near the river, there are villages that are home to a number of local craftsmen who specialize in blacksmiths and boat builders. You can also purchase wild honey and fresh fish and crabs. Enjoy a delicious feast at a local bar. Anchorage for the night in the course of the river. Dinner and overnight on board.

 

Sailing Nosy Be

Day 7 - Nosy Iranja

Finish the trip in one of the most beautiful places in Madagascar. After breakfast sail for about 1h to Nosy Iranja – home to hawksbill turtles. Enjoy the views over the exceptional setting of two green islands connected by a sandbar white. Walk on the island and see the turtles laying eggs, visit the lighthouse, swim in the waters with dolphins, whales and Unicorn fish and Parrotfish! Nosy Iranja is a great place to immerse yourself in nature. Take the lunch on board. Later on , sail back to Nosy Be for about 5 hours, arriving in the port in the evening.
